Marblehead Little Theatre presents Jesus Christ Superstar, the musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Direction and choreography by Kathleen Tringale, and music direction by Shawn Gelzleichter. TCS members involved include actors Kyle Bernard, Mary D’Eon, Abbie Petipas, Toni Turilli, Kate Petipas, Grace Antonelli, and Will Fafard. Saugus High School Drama Club presents the musical Legally Blonde, on May 9-10-11, 2019, starting at 7:30 PM. Larry Segel is the narrator, and is co-director of the show with Wendy Lippe. TCS members include: Brian Dion as King Henry II, Wendy Lippe as his queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, Jacqui DiGenio as Princess Alais, and Ryan Perry as Philip, King of France. The Psych Drama Company presents a radio show production of The Lion in Winter, by James Goldman. Michael Mazzone played a lead role in TCS’ production of Peter and the Starcatcher in May 2023. Brian, Wendy, Michael, and Zachary all appeared in Psych Drama’s live immersive production of Lion in Winter, hosted by TCS in June 2022, and co-directed by Larry. Zachary McConnell plays a few roles in Macbeth and is the audio designer. TCS members include: Brian Dion as Macduff, Wendy Lippe as Lady Macbeth, and Michael Mazzone as one of the Witches. The Psych Drama Company presents a reimagined audio version of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, on three evenings this summer at the Museum of Science. Today, AU Theatre students, faculty, and staff honor the longstanding tradition of theatre at Auburn by carrying forward a steadfast mission that connects people, ideas, and art on campus, in the community, and beyond.Upcoming performances on other stages by TCS members: The still active and engaged AU Players hosted a 100-year celebration looking back on milestones of the AU Theatre journey and bringing together players past and present. The 2013-2014 Season of Auburn University Theatre marked 100 years of theatre on the Auburn University's campus. Theatre found its current place in the newly formed College of Liberal Arts in 1987 and remains a proud purveyor of the College’s mission, which “encourages civic engagement, emphasizes global perspectives, promotes diversity, and prioritizes public outreach.” The demand for Theatre soon outgrew the AU Players drama club. On the journey to finding a permanent home, theatre as a degree offering moved through the departments of English and Speech and the School of Architecture and Fine Arts. Peet Theatre complex in 1973, which is still home to the Department of Theatre today. Over the following years, the Players maintained a strong presence on campus, creating and performing in various locations on campus including the Attic Theatre in Samford Hall, the Chapel (also called the Y-Hut and Players Theatre), and Langdon Hall, before landing in the newly constructed Telfair B. ![]() In the fall of 1913, fifteen young men formed "The Auburn Footlights," which would go on to be named AU Players in 1919 when the first women were permitted to join the organization. ![]()
